Birkat HaTorah, the blessings recited before studying Torah, express gratitude for God's commandments and the opportunity to delve into His words. The recitation of Birkat HaTorah spiritually elevates our Torah study and deepens the connection between the learner and the Torah’s Author, G-d Himself.
English Translation
Blessed are You, Hashem, our God, King of the universe, Who sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us to delve into the words of Torah.
Please, Hashem our God, sweeten the words of Your Torah in our mouths and in the mouths of Your people, the family of Israel. May we and our
descendants, and the descendants of Your people — all of us — should know Your name and study Your Torah for its own sake.
Blessed are You, Hashem, who teaches Torah to His people Israel. Blessed are You, Hashem our God, King of the universe, who chose us from
all the nations and gave us His Torah. Blessed are You, Hashem, giver of the Torah.
May Hashem bless you and guard you. May Hashem shine His countenance upon you and be gracious unto you. May Hashem turn His countenance
toward you and grant you peace.
